Our Best Answer: What is my academic standing?

Academic Standing

There are four classifications of academic standing: Satisfactory, Probationary, Unsatisfactory and Unsatisfactory Readmitted.

When you first become a student at McGill, you start with Satisfactory Standing. As you continue on in your studies, your academic standing is recalculated based on your marks. Your subsequent academic standing codes are generated in January for the Fall term, in May for the Winter term, and in September for the Summer term. Your academic standing is listed on your official and unofficial transcript.

Academic standing determines whether you will be permitted to continue your studies the following term and whether your registration will be subject to any specific conditions or restrictions.

Academic standing is based primarily on your cumulative grade point average (CGPA), but may also be affected by your term grade point average (TGPA).
